If your desk, kids' rooms, kitchen sideboards or dining room table have become a ghoulish haven for piles of paperwork, school documents, notes and artwork over the past 10 months, it's time to get organised and file that stuff away!

There's no trick to it! Simply treat yourself to a couple of Flip Files, organise your papers and get filing.

Flip Files are frightfully functional when it comes to storing all manner of paperwork. Here are our top tips for clearing the clutter this October:

• Clean out your desk and store important insurance, financial, municipal and other documents in their own Flip Files. Within each file, allow 1-2 pockets for each year. Use book labels to mark the pockets with the year, and fold back clips to close the pocket at the top.
• Tackle your kids' rooms, and use Flip Files to store school photos, school reports, sports certificates and artwork. Use A5 display books for school photos (slide A5 cards into the pockets to prevent the photos from bending) and school reports, A4-size files for sports certificates, and jumbo-sized A2 Flip Files for artwork. Alternatively use 1 x A4 Flip File per year per child, and files these in year order in your bookcase. Different coloured washi tape can be stuck on the spine to differentiate the years.
• In the kitchen, unpack all those loose recipe sheets and cards, and handwritten notes, and put them into Flip Files. You can use one file per meal type (i.e. breakfast, lunch, supper, snacks) or one file per eating plan (i.e. low carb, gluten free, vegetarian etc.)
• If you have dozens of instruction manuals for household appliances and don't know where to store them....you guessed it, put them in a Flip File! The plastic sheets allow you to quickly and easily find the manual you're looking for, and the bigger size pockets enable you to include related paperwork for each appliance, like compliance certificates and warranties. Use fold back clips to secure the pockets at the top.
• General family paperwork like birthday cards, holiday keepsakes and personal letters can quickly mount up. Instead of putting them in a box, never to be seen again, put them into A5 Flip Files - one per family member. The plastic sleeves allow everyone to easily read and enjoy these memories over and over again without making more clutter every time they haul them out.
